Martin Luther (not Martin Luther King Jr, but an equally cool person) wrote, “If you want to change the world, pick up your pen and write.” Which is exactly what he did. Martin Luther comes up in History courses quite a bit, specifically for his 95 Theses, which were changes he believed the Catholic church needed to make. He wrote these and posted them on the church door, where he was a monk. The Catholic church didn’t like his ideas very much, or at all really, so they banished him from the church, thus beginning the Protestant Reformation, which eventually created a bunch of different denominations of churches.
All this to say, Luther saw something he thought should change, so he followed his own advice. He picked up his pen and wrote. And he changed the world.
I’m not saying that everything you write will change the whole of human history, and I’m also not saying that everything you write should be posted on church doors. What I am saying, though, is what you write could change your world, or your friend’s world, or your mom’s world.
Maybe you don’t have to change THE world. Just aim for changing A world.
